    Hi Jase

    Good resolution...:D

Don't hope too much for an answer from VR...forget and look to the future!!;)

    40 degrees on Sydney? Really?

43 actually. hour west of sydney. city called penrith hit all time record for that area of 47.4!!! was bloody hot. I love the heat. keep it coming i say. my joints like it lol

  2. Hi all.

I've picked myself up and got over the rort near the start and have finally started to figure out angles and wind by reading, playing and watching the best (u guys!). I sent an email to support detailing further what happened but the support centre is all French, no english reply and setup but am not hopeful of a favourable outcome. Had to do out of principle.

I'll be happy just to get a reply from them given days ago i sent an email to them about the club in my profile and not coming in the rankings. Would be nice to see and compare to you guys how i am going.

Happy sailing to all and have a great day. Only a very mild 40 degree day here just north of Sydney lol

  3. This was posted in Leg 4 forum in main. Didnt know where else to put it and what to do. This is robbery!

About 7-8 hours into VOR leg and i magically run into aground into something on max zoom that was never there and then just magically appears after I pass it then, on top of that, am told i have run aground yet I have passed the island that appears from nowhere. Owners, mods, creators, developers, whoever, please look into this urgently and check my path (boat is Aussie Gold) and you will see for yourselves. Cost me 25,000 places even though i picked it up in under an hour. Great way to treat a beginner and generate interest in your game that i was just starting to really enjoy!

Glad i didn't pay for anything!!!!!!!!!!!

Think i am done after that free rort.

  4. Hi guys. Off and racing hehe

I had a great start the 1st hour was in top 500 at 1 point and now as i write this suddenly 14000th and change. Just going backwards but speed seems to be as fast or faster than boats i am following that i have checked. Not sure what the hell is going on now. I am very confused. Good luck anyways. Don't save a beer for me at the end as it will be boiling in Hing Kong humidity by the time i get there after the field lol

  5. Hi.

My name is Jason (Jase for short) and thanks to Sangue Seguro for the invite to join this club. Would just like to say I just recently completed my 1st race and am getting hooked on this game. I am Australian and am just learning about sailing as have never sailed before, more into surfing, cricket and darts than anything else but am very keen to learn and am trying to research as much as possible.

I am lining up for the Melbourne to Hong Kong leg of the VOR and the clipper race to the Whitsundays. Hope to see you all at the start line and would appreciate any advice or help you guys can give me.

    Happy new year everyone.

  6. Thanks mate. About the only thing regarding navigation at present I don't get the basics of is polars. I am a great mathemetician, dart player helps a lot with quick calculation (not the same though), but struggling to grasp concepts but will get it. I have no intention of paying for anything at present and have taken a look at zezo, which looks like a tool professional navigators/tacticians might use, or something similar.

What i think i will need to work on is advance planning by assessing winds in advance more but not sure how to approach it yet. Maybe i need to figure out my own structure or maybe one day someone will give me some tips and advice on best way to approach it. I used the waypoints before sleeping in the syd-hobart which i think i would have been stuffed without but never had a programming card yet so don't really know that side of it but maybe this race i might get a few to put into practice.

I am considering also doing the hobart to whitsundays clipper race but not sure if i will bite off more than i can chew. Not sure yet.

I am thinking of joining the SOS club that Sangue Seguro invited me to. Maybe this will help and can get some advice that way.

Thanks again Marcus and good luck in the next race. Happy trails. :)

  7. Cool. Thanks for the replies so far guys. I cannot afford to buy stuff constantly so will enjoy the game as it is. I am on a very tight budget due to disability pension. It is nice to know that everyone is given the same for a race at least to start with.

Thanks again and let the learning continue. Can't wait for Melbourne to Hong Kong. Love the sailing races around my country.

I agree. controls are very bad and insenstitive. took met 10 to 20 races to be able to finish the first one. mostly end up 3rd or 4th with a few wins, because I almost always mess up the controls while steering. especially after rounding a buoy it is virutally impossible to be spot on the new heading or angle-to-wind. I've stopped playing

Thanks. Good to know am not the only one. I won't be playing inshore again unless races change and are much longer due to the controls. Agree 100%, especially rounding marks.

  9. Hi all again.

I can't help myself but whilst watching the cricket today I have been doing a lot of research on this game and just sailing in general to gain knowledge and I think I may end up hooked on this game.

My question is: Does everyone get the same credits when entering into a race? Example, the clipper leg from Hobart to Whitsundays i only get 800 cr. Barely gets me 1 sail. How do i compete with top racers if higher the level, more credits given (without having to buy)????

This seems illogical in 1 aspect that new players obviously need more help at the start than experienced sailors, but reward for experience and racing on the other hand is understandable too but a bit disheartening given you cannot keep what you buy with your credits for more than 1 race. In real life a sail lasts more than 1 race unless torn or damaged so why not here too?

I am not complaining, just doesn't seem balanced IMO.

  10. Hi. Starting with saying that the offshore game is awesome and well done. Brilliant.

The inshore though is a pathetic joke. Cannot steer properly at all and it is not as if i can plug a helm into a usb port and drive lmao.

Also, i have done a lot of research on rules and around 50% of the time when starting i am always immediately penalised when i am dropped into the game because i have supposedly broken the leeward/winward rule or the port/starboard rule. Had about 10 races and only not finished last once and that i think was 7 out of 8 lmao.

What a shame! I won't be playing this version ever again as the ability to slightly adjust heading is impossible due to lack of sensitivity and when you hold left/right down for a bit it goes crazy. Just not controllable.

you can't win without some kind of weather server and a routing solution. or even make ik top 1000 with only the VR-game UI
the real VOR navigators also use routing solutions

without zezo, I wouldn't be playing anymore and like me many others

anyway, make your own choices and fair winds to ya !

Ahhh ok. I understand. So it is like navigation software navigators/tacticians use? If so, then cool beans. I was not sure, as per my last comment (i could be wrong), and often am wrong but aren't we all lol. I will give it a go and see what happens. Thank you. Much appreciated. This is all helping me a lot now.

@WildWassa, the clipper race leg is up now at my end. I have already registered for the VOR to Hong Kong leg but can people enter both races? I might try it now i understand waypoints. Haven't used programation yet as don't have many cards and will only play for free at this stage.

They have only given 800 credits for the Hobart to Whitsunday race so am not sure if it is worth it for me. Do you get more credits the more you race or is it always small for all?

  12. Firstly, thanks so far for the replies.

Second, english only please. I don't understand and it can be easy to offend someone in their thread/post, if they don't understand what is being said.

@WildWassa thanks for the reply especially and would like to learn the game and sailing with you as 2 rookies haha. What is your boat name? Mine is Aussie Gold and we can follow each other for help and tips. I went to the zezo site but it seems like cheating to me, i could be wrong. Seems good for weather update into the future, which seems to be better than in game but won't know until start to compare it but i won't be for this race. Will do in the future perhaps if i ever do the Jules Verne as it will be a good guide it seems. We also perhaps should join a club. Have you joined any yet? If so, which 1 and i will join it too? If not, perhaps we should accept sangue seguro's invite and go from there if you are keen.

Let me know your thoughts mate and happy sailing :)

  13. Hi all.

Just crossed the line to finish my 1st race, the great Syd to Hobart and was great fun and learning. Aimed to finish under 10,000 but a few hundred short of getting there. Lost course a few time sleeping and realised the auto nav is crap and figured out the auto sail and waypoints are great and a must for time away from the game.

What i would like is to join a club with all english speaking players so i can go about learning the game more and getting help, support and ideas on how to improve as 95% of the forum is in French and i have no idea what is being said and is a bit disheartening.

Can anyone recommend or invite me possibly, to a club that would help me with what i am wanting to do?

    Thanks in advance.

    Aussie Gold!

  14. Hi all. Am doing my 1st race and is a great game. Never sailed a boat in my life and have spent the last day doing a lot of research about but am really struggling. I have gone way backwards overnight and am trying to make up time but seems whatever i do i get worse not better. I used a reaching sail card, a code 0 i think its called and did the hull, used an auto sail for when asleep but i think it go me into this trouble. I would like to know is there some basic cards i should have for every race, or does it all differ from race to race, do the boats change each race or am i stuck with a clipper until level increase?

I also don't quite get downwind having to tack on an angle, understand upwind reason but with a spinnaker or reach sail shouldn't you be able to take a path straight downwind? Not sure on what to do. Have read all the help again but am lost? Are there also multiple categories of boats in every race, like this, or are we all racing the same and how do i know?
