Maradonnie
I was suffering from many cases of app suddenly exiting the race and throwing me back to home page, resulting in a DNF and zero points. i determined that the problem was caused by accidentally pulling up lower apple menu, or occasionally pulling down the upper menu. This action did not always cause the race exit, but all observed race exits were preceded by an accidental slight opening of these menus. Help are aware of the issue, but the issue still occurs as far as I am aware. The workaround I found was to enable something called ‘guided access’ As I recall, you go to settings/general/accessibility/guided access. It will ask you to set a password which is used to unlock the guided access. What the guided access does is it locks you in the app. It also does not allow you to open the upper or lower menus. Hence with this enabled, I have not suffered any more race exits (as long as I remember to activate) once you set up the password, you triple click the home button to activate the guided access, and triple click again followed by password to exit guided access. if you google guided access, you can confirm if my recollection of setting is correct. i guess more than just me suffering this problem. Hopefully workaround can be of some help Donnie
11962
Nice, thank you. I was having the same problem. You can use the notification screen and the control center before the starting procedure begins. After the 1:30 or the 1:00 signal it throws you out of the race. Also this is not a bug. If you pull up the control center and slide it back down before the starting procedure begins, you'll notice that your boats stops for the time that you spend in the control center and then fast forwards. Last year, before it threw you out of the race, this could be used to not having to swerve around others for giving them room. You could effectively run through them without getting penalised or losing speed.
Pelicoach
Tried the guided access method. Got to hit the race button booted back to home screen then straight into the opening screen of the regatta app. Have not been able to race for 2 days got so many DSQ from trying different things. Bit over it.
Crofter
Peli, they should have made some announcement. The recent update on mobile does that. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling, worked for me and others.

I was out yesterday, tried to race on mobile data and I got the eternal cloud of doom, but when I got home on broadband it worked fine. So, I wonder if there's an issue with mobile data game connection? Think the guys playing on PCs have it better overall!!
Pelicoach
I’m just using wifi at home not mobile data. Phone is working now but iPad fails every time. I should put in a protest to the race committee for redress for a bad update ha ha.
skutsje
I've also got the race exits, but especially with low battery notifications. It immediately kicks me out of the game. Is there no way for the game to continue playing while you're not focused on the game? I've thrown away too many good starts because of this... As you may know, we may or may not have it better on a PC's, but in the end, if one of us plays in the finals, we will have to use a Mobile device, like phone or pad, no PC's allowed! So If you do play on a mobile device you are off better, do to more practice.
Maradonnie
Btw, guided access also stops phone calls and low battery warnings from kicking you out.

One when 80m ahead are the last windward mark. Just need to sort out VR taking money and not giving coins in return now.
